having FUN kiddies?!!!: so the biggest loser is... →
-rosasparks-: sparkleneely: Can I add something to this? Not only is the whole weight loss of 400 pounds in 2 days absurd, it’s also obscene how they work people in ways they shouldn’t work their bodies. As a fitness nut and general believer that if we treat out bodies right, they will treat us right back, there is NO WAY that some of the physical activities they ask of people who come to...

I expect we would have heard something by now.
OK so the end of the world was supposed to start at 1800M. That translates to 0600Z. That was 12 hours ago. The rapture and great world earthquake should have ravaged everything from Fiji to India by now. I figure if the rapture was happening we would have heard something. We would be “standing far off and witnessing the horrible thing that is happening.” But clearly, it’s not. ...

Difficult Decisions: The PCUSA's change in... →
I just heard the news of the Presbyterian Church USA’s decision to rewrite their standards for ordination. The language they are removing requires clergy to be either celibate or in a faithful heterosexual marriage. So by removing this language they don’t affirm the right of ordination for GLBT persons but, they have cleared the path. The only fact in the issue of marriage and...

It turns out, Einstein was really that smart →
The epic awesomeness of this discovery is probably lost on most of the world, at least for now. But, even if you aren’t impressed by the experiment itself (don’t worry, it went over my head the first time too) be impressed by the fact that a theory first published in 1905 was proven 106 years later.

The Don't Be A Dick License →
wilwheaton: This is a proposed draft of the Don’t Be a Dick license for open source projects. The purpose of this license is to permit the broadest feasible scope for reuse and modification of creative work, restricted only by the requirement that one is not a dick about it. I’m sure that I had nothing to do with this … but I wish I did. I love it. I love it. I love it.

I am volunteering for the "Man in Space" Program →
I just want to say that I have a lot of respect for a grown man that calls his father Daddy. Cause you know you want a guy with the balls to get strapped to a bomb and hope he comes back should be OK with calling the man who raised him Daddy instead of something more classically masculine like Dad or Pop.

Man with no legs arrested for sexual asault →
And that’s after he called 911 when some people broke into his house. And apparently the prosecutor hid the fact that this man was a double amputee when seeking the incitement. I know this is only one side of the story but I’m really curious to see what the other side has to say, but they’re not exactly talking.

If this is how NCAAF ends up going to playoffs... →
Everybody uses playoffs. But not NCAA Division I football. Instead they use this complicated system of formulas based on wins, losses, polls, school name, and pixie dust. Not necessarily in that order. It is very possible for the team with the best overall record to not have a chance at the championship game. It happens all the time. The NCAA has resisted changing to a playoff system primarily...

Speaking Truth Does Not Win You Friends →
Ok so some of what Rashard Mendenhall had to say might have been a little problematic. Specifically the parts about not knowing what really happened. But, problematic it may be, it’s neither disrespectful or dishonest to say I don’t know. And the rest is straight out of the love your neighbor playbook. And while the NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers seem to take issue with that, I...

The Dragon & Phoenix: Thoughts on the Death of... →
mrchyoung3: The main problem with eating the fruit (or emerging from the cave) is that you can never view things the old way. When others take to the streets in celebration, you are condemned to view the entire matter as a move in a continuous game. My initial thoughts on the news of Osama bin Laden where of… My first concern, after the shock, was that people won’t believe that...
